1. Determine dx

2. obtain informed consent

3. collect and prepare materials

4. prepare site
– expose skin well
– clean with at least 3 alcoholed cotton balls
(until cotton ball comes away clean)

5. make sure Dr has retractable pen

6. Dr will mark injection site

7. hand Dr 3 iodine swabs in succession with waste can and hand for disposal

8. hand Dr. syringe in his right hand, removing cap, and ethyl chloride into
his left hand

9. Receive ethyl chloride back from Dr

10.clean are with alcohol to remove iodine

11.bandage injection site
